Tuesday 29th August - Wind up day

Today was our last full day on the Gold Coast and the only thing we really wanted to do was go for a long walk north along the beach, which we did.

A view of where we were headed for our walk, from our apartment

The view looking back south just before we turned around to head back.

These two beach houses sat in between high rise developments and must be worth a fortune.
Maybe the fact that the beach gets washed away
when they have large storms might be a worry though.

One view of the 77 storey Peppers Soul building which is 244 meters tall.
There's more info on it here

The building on the far left is actually the tallest one on the Gold Coast ....

...and it's Queensland One, commonly refered to as Q1.
It has 78 residential floors and is 322 metres tall, when you include the mast,
and for more info go here

A fairly typical view as you walk down the beach

As I look down from our 20th floor balcony, to the left I see this ...

... and panning to the right I see this ...

... then you look up and you see the top of the crane, which is ~22 storeys high!

The story behind this is that they started about two years ago and have got a very expensive piece of drilling kit stuck a long way down so it has all but come to a halt.
There are about twelve workers there but not a lot of action.
The plans are for an 89 storey tower but if the past two years' progress is anything to go by it won't be finished for a very long time

This is the  ~ 160° panorama view looking due east from the balcony at 5pm
